Niall Benvie’s Call to Action for Nature Photographers
TweetProfessional nature photographers Niall Benvie (UK) and Clay Bolt (US) have announced a new project: Meet Your Neighbors. The projects goal is to recruit photographers from around the world to document as many species as possible, plants and animals, in your own backyard and neighborhood.
Similar to the wildly successful, Wild Wonders of Europe Project, which Benvie was a contributing photographer, this grassroots effort seeks photographers across the globe to connect with their local conservation organizations to document all species in a unique studio style approach.
Sponsors include the Royal Zoological Society and the prestigious, invitation only International League of Conservation Photographers of which both Benvie and Bolt are members.
For photographers accepted in the program, MYN will offer instruction on how to create these portable studios as well as the diffusion material to build it.
As Benvie notes; “There is no pot of gold” as in a cash winners like a photo contest. Instead photographers will be funded by local conservation organizations and the work published in books and audio visual shows.
There is also the opportunity to eventually license your images at a 50% commission to the photographer.
Conservation photography is the hot button topic out there right now with a growing global network of nature photographers standing up and joining important causes that benefit the natural world.
Today more than ever, a photograph is much more valuable than 1000 words!
